changes, connections and china

With a week off, I’ve been busy updating my website http://www.danonfilm.com and making new connections. Previously, this website was poorly organised – I had let it grow into something pretty ugly after a rushed session fiddling unsuccessfully with wordpress. More by luck than judgement (and a little help from ai), I seem to have managed to turn this site into something that now represents my work as a film photographer and also as a vehicle for my blog on my experiences. I also realised I haven’t “blogged” for the best part of two years, something else that needs to change.

And the other thing that needs to change is my network, so I’ve started reaching out to people. I recently covered Malvern Town FC’s playoff final victory with my trusty Canon EOS 300 with 50mm f1.8 on Portra 400 (I saw a deal for £14 per roll and couldn’t resist). I approached the Chairman for a press pass and got access all (most) areas to capture the fans on the club’s historic day. True to form, I didn’t manage to finish the third roll until this week, so I’ve now dropped them off at exposurefilmlab.com and look forward to getting them back within the week. With some free time on my hands, I decided to drive the films from Malvern to Hereford and meet Matt, the owner at exposurefilmlab. It was lovely to meet the chap who has been processing and scanning my film for the past six or seven years. You might have noticed that I am very happy to endorse the great job he does in the footer of each page of my site.

While there, I thought I’d pick a couple of his reasonably priced 35mm film rolls. The chinese firm “lucky” is back producing film after a hiatus, and I’ve always been impressed by what I’ve seen of kentmere online so I bought a roll of kentmere pan 400 too. I’ll share my photos of Malvern Town FC in my next post.
